HVAD?

WHAT?

Insulin pump designed for women aged 13 to 21 years of age who suffer from type 1 diabetes.

HVORDAN?

HOW?

Based on interviews with a diabetes nurse and five young women with diabetes, Julie Maria Pedersen has designed Body Adapt, which is based on the IT phenomenon "Looping". Via an app on the smart phone, Body Adapt regulates the amount of insulin adjusted to the individual's exercise and diet. Body Adapt allows the patient to design her own interface with colours and patterns offering a feeling of greater freedom.

HVORFOR?

WHY?

"These are the difficult teenage years where you wish the disease would just go away". "The insulin pump is such a drag". These statements come from some of the young women with type 1 diabetes whom Julie Maria Pedersen has interviewed. The combination of being a teenager while suffering from type 1 diabetes is especially difficult for young women who on a daily basis have to manually inject the vital insulin that the body needs.
