A collection of handbags inspired by the notion that design, specifically the handbag, is created by and creates our gender image. The collection shows that there is nothing physical about the handbag that makes it feminine, only the context and the associations it conveys.
Ved at kombinere læder og vand har designeren videreudviklet den gamle teknik, wet molding og dekonstrueret den klassiske håndtaske. Herigennem får taskerne et nyt, flydende, udtryk. Designet karikerer håndtasken og tematiserer det binære kønssyn, som afspejles i udformningen af vores objekter.
By combining leather and water, the designer has further developed the old technique, wet moulding, and deconstructed the classic handbag. This gives the handbags a novel, fluid look. The design mimics the handbag, the theme being the binary perception of gender which is reflected in the design of our objects.
Designeren vil have os til at reflektere over, hvordan selv dagligdags objekter har en tilført kønsdimension, designet ud fra politiske, patriarkalske diskurser.
The designer wants us to reflect on the fact that even everyday objects have an added gender dimension that is designed based on political and patriarchal discourses.
